February 20, 2012 - Bilge Area Floor

The floor is now completely sealed. I added the remaining plywood to the area around the bilge pump. I glassed it all in and injected many cans of foam under the floorboards. It is very solid and tight.

February 18, 2012 - Glassing in the Floor

I worked on a very large and important part of the boat today. I fitted a new floor in the boat. The front area was particularly challenging because there was a very jagged area of rotten floor that was removed. I worked on cardboard templates over and over to make sure it would fit before I cut it out of 1'4 inch plywood. The main section was much easier. After they were all cut to fit, I glassed them in.

February 17, 2012 - Work on the Transom

It was a day in the 50's, unusual for February in this area, so I took the GT outside to do a little sanding on the transom. There has been extensive work on the transom, including drilling a new drain hole, about 2 inches above the bottom of the boat. I decided that I was going to redrill a drain at the bottom, on the other side of the central stringer, so I did.I filled in the other hole with a plug and gorilla glue. I will glass it in, inside and out, at a later tome. I have a lot of work to do in this area, especially around the splashwell.

February 2, 2012 - New Stringers

It was time to install the new stringers. I made templates out of cardboard and laid them out on 1x6 lumber. The floor had already been worked on in the past so I had a few little cut-outs to make so the stringers would fit. I added a new one on the side of the main stringer and dug out all of the rotten wood and replaced the outer stringers. Once they were in place, I glassed them in.

January 12, 2012 - Dash and Floor Prep

I removed the VERY faded capacity plate from the dash. I am in the process of getting a new one made and hope to have extras to sell for others that need a fresh plate. I also have the floor ready to cut stringers and get that glassed in.

January 11, 2012 - Flipping the Boat Back Over

The paint on the hull is dry and it is time to put the GT back on the trailer so I can work on rest of the boat
